What it is

Hausbound Scheduler is the publishing tool behind Hausbound's Renovation Case Files, our weekly YouTube series, and the short videos we post to TikTok. It schedules each week's videos with their titles, descriptions and thumbnails so they go out at the same time every week. The YouTube side runs on a self-hosted instance of the open-source scheduler Postiz, operated by Hausbound. The TikTok side runs on this site. It is in private beta: Hausbound's own channels use it today, and home-renovation creators can ask for an invitation at the address below.

How posting to TikTok works

  1. 1Sign inUse your Hausbound account. Accounts are free; during the private beta the scheduler is switched on per account, by invitation.
  2. 2Connect your TikTok accountThe connection goes through TikTok's own sign-in screen. Hausbound never sees your TikTok password, and you can disconnect at any time.
  3. 3Fill in the posting formChoose the video, write the caption, and set who can view it, whether others can comment, duet or stitch it, and whether it promotes a brand.
  4. 4Post, or save to your TikTok draftsNothing goes out until you press the button. The page then shows when TikTok has finished publishing the video.

YouTube

This tool uses YouTube API Services. It uploads videos to, and manages videos on, Hausbound's own YouTube channel, and reads that channel's analytics. Connecting a channel means agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of the data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Access can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page.

TikTok

This tool uses TikTok's Login Kit and Content Posting API. A creator connects their own TikTok account, and the scheduler posts a video to that account only when the creator fills in the posting form and presses the button, choosing who can see the video, whether others can comment, duet or stitch it, and whether it promotes a brand. It reads the account's basic profile, its totals (followers, likes, video count) and, for the account's own videos, view counts. Access can be revoked at any time from the poster or from TikTok's app permissions (Settings and privacy, Security and permissions, Apps and services).
